It is with great pride that Coastal Community Challenge have supported the opening of the long awaited extension to the Skate Park in Mablethorpe after a massive £25,000 investment by the CCC. Special thanks must go to Sue Fortune from Lincolnshire Community Foundation who worked with Margaret Codling to make this happen. For years Margaret has worked tirelessly to get this park up and running. The first ramps were opened in 2008. The new larger ramps have now been installed thanks to East Lindsey District Council working in partnership with Big Local Coastal Community Challenge Committee and many local generous people. The breakdown of funding is as follows:- Mablethorpe C.C.C. £25,000 MAP CIC £2,250 Lindum Group/Tesco/ELDC 106 Money £5,000 Holivans £1,000 Janet Stubbs £700 Town Council £500 Rotary Club £200 Skate Park Committee £300 TOTAL £34,950 The Town Council provided Margaret with a seat, and a plaque with her name on it. Town Mayor Joyce Taylor officially opened the park with Margaret. Joyce praised Margaret for all the hard work she had put in over the last 9 years to get this extra extension, and thanked her for never giving up. Margaret said that the youth of the area have been very good, the park has not been vandalised or trashed and they have kept it clean and tidy for the last 9 years, she is very proud of them all. We hope this park gives many more years of enjoyment to the younger members of our community.
